Erik the RedErik lived in western Iceland with his father Thorvald because Thorvald had been banned from Norway for manslaughter. Eric explored Greenland.

Leif Eriksson

Leif the Lucky

Also called Leif the Lucky was Eric´s son. He sailed even further west than his famous father. He reached Canada, sailing to a land he named Vinland. This was probably Newfoundland.

Thorfinn Karlsefni

Thorfinn Karlsefni

Thorfinn Karlsefni was an Icelander who supposedly took trips to Vinland after Leif Eriksson. Thorfinn means “promising boy”
